In September 2019, Nicole Caba, the Founder and CEO of Avvinue, received the recognition of La French Tech to join the Boost In Lyon incubator program and moved from New York to Lyon with a French Tech Visa. After experiencing the challenges of moving and getting settled abroad, Nicole knew there was an opportunity to improve the relocation experience by leveraging the power of AI and technology.
“Like any tech startup, we started off validating our business idea and really connecting with people who have moved abroad. Once we understood the pain points people experienced when relocating, we identified the solution — a platform that could guide them on what to do, when to do it and who to trust to get the stressful logistics complete.” Nicole explains.
One year later, Avvinue continues to grow, establish partnerships and develop its relocation platform to improve the relocation process of people moving around the world. Despite the effects of the pandemic in France and globally, Avvinue celebrates its first, impressive year.
Avvinue’s First Year
From the first day of launching the website, Avvinue had the support of global citizens around the world and formed a pilot group of 20 clients to help design the all-in-one relocation platform. During this process, Avvinue was accepted into the JEA Beelys pre-accelerator program and the HUB612 accelerator portfolio. "It was such an exhilarating process go from a sketch on a napkin to a developed platform," said Nicole.
The Avvinue all-in-one relocation platform has helped thousands of people coordinate and manage their move abroad with the guidance of a personal moving assistant.
“Avvinue is a great tool for expats trying to navigate their way in France. It helps connect all of the dots to get set up in a new country. I used the service to find housing as well as to find an accountant for my business,” said Aubrey T, a client of Avvinue.
When COVID-19 caused the closure of borders and confinement around the world, Avvinue took the opportunity to feature the voices of people living abroad by launching The Moving Roadmap Podcast. The podcast features more than 12 episodes in the first season and just launched the second season.
Just before reaching the end of the first year, Avvinue was announced a recipient of the BPI Bourse French Tech grant to support the innovation of Avvinue's technology.
"This year has been a whirlwind full of opportunity, challenges and blessings. Not only is this the first year for Avvinue, but it's also my first year living abroad -- so it's been a tremendous learning curve, but I have the privilege to wake up every day and make an impact on people who are going through the relocation journey," Nicole shares.
This first year as a tech startup has been a huge success, and continues to focus on delivering consumer-focused software that improves the relocation journey for people around the world.
"We’re not done either! We have so many great things to celebrate from the past year that’s taking us to the next level for Avvinue and our clients around the world. We’re excited for this next phase and ready to take on Year 2!” celebrates Nicole and the Avvinue team.
